Life At The Porterbrook Care Home

Our dedicated Activities Coordinators are thrilled to provide a varied activities programme every week for our residents. There is always some exciting to be a part of and if residents choose to opt-out, that’s completely fine too.

Activities that residents have done in the past include creating sculptures, decorating the home for special occasions, indulging in pamper days as well as watching entertainment from performing musicians and professional dancers. Our team works tirelessly to ensure that the activities and workshops that take place in our care home are catered to the interests of our residents, and we will happily take new suggestions on board.

Getting Out and About

Our residential care home is positioned on a quiet, residential road within Sheffield, just 20 minutes from Rotherham. The Porterbrook offers a chauffeur-driven Mercedes service, so residents are able to get to their desired destination without any stress and at no extra cost. Residents can freely spend the day with fellow residents or loved ones exploring the local town centre and the many attractions that Rotherham has to offer.

Wentworth Woodhouse, Rother Valley Country Park, Clifton Park and Musuem, and Roche Abbey are just a few of the fantastic places that are a stone’s throw away from The Porterbrook Care Home. Whether residents enjoy learning about historical events, trying new cuisine, or walking amongst beautiful scenery, there are plenty of opportunities for residents to find something that will interest them in the town of Rotherham.

Residential Care

Often as people grow older, they seek companionship with those of a similar age and who have similar interests. Many no longer want to maintain their household as they find it increasingly difficult with old age, or if they have a condition or disability that hinders them. Our residential home is a suitable place to live where luxury accommodation is provided, and where all housekeeping and cooking is taken care of.

Residential care is a good option for those who need some assistance with their personal chores every now and then but can live independently for the most part. Our staff are available to lend a helping hand no matter the circumstance. Residents who live at our residence can experience excellent cuisine, an active lifestyle and busy social life in an opulent setting.

Our care team works closely with residents and loved ones to discuss the personal needs of an individual, and by learning their likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, we can establish an appropriate care plan. As requirements change over time, we will reassess and alter residents’ care to meet their new needs, and advise on whether a more appropriate type of care is needed.

Dementia Care

Our care home offers high-quality, compassionate dementia care, ensuring that each resident is comfortable and safe, and has everything they need to be content. Our aim is to help everyone achieve a degree of independence, and our staff is devoted to providing the best person-centred care possible. Our team has an extensive amount of dementia care knowledge and experience working with people who have lived with different stages of dementia.

We ensure that daily care and support is solely tailored to the needs of every individual living with dementia, as well as taking on board the wishes of their friends and family members. We also provide dementia-friendly activities so that every person who lives with us, no matter what challenges they face, can join in on the fun and be part of The Porterbrook family.

Respite Care

If you’re caring for a loved one or need some time to recover from an illness or injury, we are here to take the daily stresses away from you. You can fully relax at The Porterbrook, knowing that you will be in safe hands and all needs will be taken care of by our professional team. Respite care can last from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the individual’s circumstances. It can also be planned in advance or used on an emergency basis.

Respite care can also be used to trial a care home which gives you the opportunity to decide if The Porterbrook will be your next residence. As everyone has different reasons for seeking respite care, we will make sure that each individual receives the care and assistance they deserve, while taking into account their likes, preferences and goals.
