Introducing our Home Manager Sheilagh Sweeney!

We are thrilled to introduce you to our Home Manager Sheilagh Sweeney.

Sheilagh has dedicated 30 years of her life to Social Care and has had a lifetime of experience in caring for the elderly. She believed from a very young age that caring for others was her calling in life, her passion and drive. Her biggest achievement in life was developing her skills and knowledge and gaining her Diploma in ILM – Institute of Leadership and Management.

Sheilagh has been Home Manager at The Porterbrook for three years and describes herself as a very hands on manager who enjoys working alongside a compassionate team of like-minded individuals who want to deliver the highest standard of care.

Sheilagh said, “I feel very privileged and proud to be the Manager of this beautiful home, we provide five-star facilities and whilst working at The Porterbrook I have strived to build a strong diverse team of staff to support me”

Over the past 7 months, Sheilagh and the team at The Porterbrook have had to adapt to these unprecedented times, with the priority being to shield residents whilst offering support, companionship and of course still smiling and laughing every day. There have been many restrictions for residents to see their friends and families and it has been tough.

Sheilagh said, “I am very proud of how the staff at Porterbrook have adapted, I cannot praise them enough, residents have been so patient and understanding as well”

We asked Sheilagh what the most rewarding part of being the Home Manager at The Porterbrook was and she replied, “The most rewarding part of my job is when I witness residents enjoying themselves, either when taking part in a planned activity or while interacting with a fellow resident or a member of the team, seeing the residents smiling is why I come to work”
