The Importance of Maintaining Family Connections

At The Porterbrook, we know that moving into a care home doesn’t mean saying goodbye to the things that make life special, especially family meals and time spent together. Our home is designed to feel welcoming and relaxed, with plenty of inviting spaces for residents and their loved ones to enjoy one another’s company.

Recently, we were delighted to welcome Mo’s family for a wonderful afternoon of good food, laughter, and shared memories. At their request, our talented chef Oi prepared a delicious traditional Thai meal with authentic flavours and a personal touch. The family were served in our comfortable bar area and we created a warm and friendly setting that felt just like home.

After their meal, the family stayed to enjoy a lively game of cards and the room was filled with smiles and conversation. It was a lovely reminder of how important those everyday moments are. The simple pleasure of being together, sharing stories and enjoying familiar traditions.

Whether it’s a quiet afternoon tea, a special celebration or a home-cooked meal, our team always goes the extra mile to make it possible. Oi’s cooking was a true highlight of the day, and we’re so pleased that Mo and their family were able to enjoy such a meaningful time together.

These occasions capture what life at The Porterbrook is all about, which is a caring community where residents feel supported and at home.
