What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is a condition that affects older people in a number of ways. It commonly affects a person’s cognitive thinking including memory, communication, and mood. As the condition develops over time, it becomes difficult to do daily tasks like they once used to, therefore help and assistance will be required. Many people will care for their loved one living with Dementia at home, but often it gets to a point where their care needs become too demanding, therefore the next best option will be finding professional care in a dementia care home. Those with the condition can continue to live to the fullest with the right care and support provided by a team of care professionals.

Providing Specialist Dementia Care in Sheffield

We are one of the few care homes that provide specialist Dementia Care. At our dementia care home in Sheffield, our carers have received the most up-to-date training and has many years experience in providing specialist care to residents with dementia. Our team of compassionate individuals understands that no two people living with the condition are the same, therefore every resident has their own unique dementia care plan created in order to receive a level of care that is best suited for them.

Our staff regularly talk with residents and their loved ones to ensure that we get to know our residents to the best of our ability, which in turn will allow us to provide the best dementia care possible. The daily activities available have been carefully thought out to allow all residents, including those with dementia to be engaged and stimulated. If a resident requires a different type of care later down the line, such as nursing care, we can reassess an individual’s care needs to decipher if nursing care is the next best alternative. If this is the case, we will explore the nursing care options available elsewhere.
