Residents at The Porterbrook have thoroughly enjoyed meeting some very special animal visitors over recent weeks. From owls and chinchillas to parrots and other fascinating creatures, our home has welcomed a wonderful variety of animals, giving residents the chance to learn something new and enjoy interaction along the way.

A Different Kind of Activity

The animal sessions have provided a welcome change from residents’ usual daily activities, offering sensory engagement and gentle interaction. Our residents particularly enjoyed getting close to the animals and discovering interesting facts about each little visitor.

Animal visits are a regular and much-loved part of life at The Porterbrook, with our home’s activities programme incorporating pet therapy, giving a positive impact on residents’ wellbeing.

Connecting Through Animals

As well as bringing laughter and excitement, the visits encouraged residents to share memories of pets and wildlife they have enjoyed throughout their lives. These conversations often lead to treasured stories about animals once owned and experiences from years gone by.

A Special Thank You To Walk on the Wild Side Animal Encounters

The session was hugely popular, bringing lots of laughter and conversation to the home. Whether watching an owl or stroking a chinchilla, residents embraced the opportunity to experience something a little different together.
