Bollywood Visit at the Home

Bollywood comes to The Porterbrook

We had a taste of India recently when a Bollywood dancer came in to entertain our residents.

Isha treated our residents to an afternoon of dancing, music and traditional Indian food. The dancer showed off her glamorous routines, before teaching our residents some of the key moves and encouraging them to join in the dancing.

Isha handed out beaded scarves and Indian head jewels to get everyone into the Bollywood spirit and had everyone moving to the music.

After the dancing everyone enjoyed a selection of delicious Indian snacks including samosas, bhajis, and pakoras, and had a chance to talk about what they enjoyed most about the dancing.

Our Home Manager, Sheliagh Sweeney said: "We wanted to do something a bit different with this activity and felt this was an opportunity to really engage all the senses. Bollywood dancing is so alluring and exotic, and the costumes are vivid, making the whole experience bright, colourful and visually enticing.

"Live performance, as well as physical activity, is well known to be calming, improve mood and encourage social interaction and we believe it was enormously beneficial for our residents. Isha made a wonderful impression on everyone and our residents loved learning the new style of dance. We will definitely be inviting Isha back for another visit very soon!"
